Deliberating upon the need to apprise people about the environment hazards caused by burning of agriculture residue or wastes in the fields, Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) is organising awareness programmes at the block levels in all 21 districts of the State under a special action plan prepared by the Board to deal with the issue.

KOLKATA, 25 NOV: The Revised National Ambient Air Quality Standards issued by the Centre would come at a cost for the state government as they have to spend around Rs 20-22 lakh to upgrade its air monitoring units located at various places in and around the city to keep a check on the revised norms.

All hazardous waste generating industries in Goa have been via a notice issued by the Goa State Pollution Control Board directed to make an application to the Board on or before January 4, 2010, for obtaining authorisation as required under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2008, notified under the Environment Protection Act, 1986.

The Bombay High Court at Goa on Monday directed the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to conduct a fresh inspection of Curchorem Railway Yard (CRY) within two weeks to ascertain the level of dust pollution in the area.
