Grievance in this application was against cutting of trees in a park/green belt for construction of a nursery school opposite A-41 to 44, Chander Nagar, in front of A-1/271 to 276, Janakpuri, New Delhi. It was stated that the site of school was part of green belt which had been illegally transferred by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to Guru Vivekanand Shiksha Sansthan, for a school.

Himalayan pencil cedar (Juniperus polycarpos) is an evergreen tree distributed from Afghanistan, Baluchistan, Kagan valley, Kashmir, Lahaul-Spiti to upper reaches of western Tibet. In the western Himalaya treeline of the Juniperus polycarpos is not well defined because of the topographical barriers and variation in orography.

ISFR 2019 presents the results of forest cover mapping with a refined methodology, though consistent with the past assessments. A manual for forest cover mapping has been prepared for the first time.

It is heartening to note that as per the ISFR, 2019, the forest and tree cover of the country continues to show a rising trend despite immense pressure on our forests.
