ALAPPUZHA: Even as the threat of floods that loomed over the water-logged Kuttanad seems to have receded, the people are now up against another recurrent scourge.

A high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary will be set up to monitor issues related to water-logging, flood and cleanliness on roads. This was decided at the Flood Control Apex Committee meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday.

Demanding permanent solution of the problem of artificial flood in Jorhat town Asam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad of Bhogdoi unit conducted a road blockade programme on NH-37 near Bhogdoi bridge here today.
