Question raised in Lok Sabha on Chronic Diseases, 05/08/2016. As per disease burden study on Non-Communicable Diseases published by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in 2004, the estimated cases of Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) in India was 224 lakh and prevalence of IHD was 37.0 cases per thousand. As per the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the estimated cases of diabetes in India in the age group of 20-70 years are 65.0 million, 66.8 million and 69.1 million respectively in 2013, 2014 & 2015.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Hydro Power Project, 04/08/2016. As per reassessment study conducted by Central Electricity Authority, India has a total hydro potential of 1,45,320 MW (above 25 MW). Projects with 38062 MW are in operation while HE Schemes with an aggregate capacity of 12357 MW are under construction. However, a total hydro potential of about 94900 MW still remains to be tapped in the country, which is about 65% of the total hydro power potential. State-wise details of the estimated hydro power potential yet to be tapped in the country is given at Annex.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Energy Efficiency, 04/08/2016. Government has specified norms and standards for reduction in specific energy consumption (SEC) for energy intensive sectors. In cycle-I (2012-13 to 2014-15) of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme, 478 industries of eight sectors were given targets to reduce their SEC. The cumulative target for energy saving for the cycle-I was 6.68 Million Tonnes of Oil Equivalent (MTOE) to be achieved by the end of 2014-15, against which energy saving of 8.67 MTOE have been achieved which is about 30% more than the target.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Electrification of Villages, 04/08/2016. Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) was launched in December, 2014. As reported by the States, 9,481 un-electrified villages have been electrified under DDUGJY including Rural Electrification component. The State-wise details are given at Annexure-I. As reported by the States, there were 18,452 un-electrified census villages in the country, as on 01.04.2015. Out of these villages, 9,126 un-electrified villages are yet to be electrified as on 31.07.2016. The details are given at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Drinking Water and Sanitation in Tribal/Backward Areas, 04/08/2016. Under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP),the Ministry earmarks 10 % of NRDWP allocation for coverage of Scheduled Tribes concentrated rural habitations. However, the Ministry does not release /earmark fund separately for backward area with regard to drinking water

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Tiger Population, 02/08/2016. The country level tiger estimation using the refined methodology is done once in four years. As per the assessment of the Status of Tigers, Co-predators and Prey, 2014 using the refined methodology, the tiger number has shown 30% increase countrywide with an estimated number of 2226 (range 1945-2491) as compared to
2010 estimation of 1706 (range 1520-1909 tigers). The details of tiger estimation pertaining to tiger landscapes in the country for the years 2010 and 2014 are at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Untreated Sewage, 02/08/2016. As per a report published by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in March, 2015, the sewage generation from urban areas in the country is estimated at 61,948 mld, against which a sewage treatment capacity of 23,277 mld, or 37% of the sewage generation is available. The State-wise details of sewage generation from urban areas, corresponding treatment capacity available and treatment capacity under construction are at Annexure.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Human-Animal Conflict, 02/08/2016. The Central Government provides partial financial assistance to the States/ Union Territory Governments under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes of 'Project Tiger' and ’Project Elephant', inter alia, for the management of human wildlife conflict. Details of funds released to State Governments under the Centrally Sponsored
Schemes of 'Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats', 'Project Tiger' and ’Project Elephant' during last three years and the current year is at Annexure I(A),I(B) and I(C) respectively .

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Funds for Air Pollution, 02/08/2016. Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is monitoring the ambient air quality in the country including metropolitan cities in association with State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) / Pollution Control Committee (PCCs) of UTs, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) under the scheme “National Air Quality Monitoring Programme” (NAMP). The total funds allocated and utilized for checking and monitoring air pollution during each of the last three years and the current year, scheme wise is annexed.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Environment Protection, 02/08/2016. The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is sponsoring three major Schemes for protection of environment and afforestation i.e. National Afforestation Programme (NAP) Scheme, National Mission for a Green India (GIM) and Intensification of Forest Management Scheme (IFMS) for implementation by the States including the State of Rajasthan.
