Question raised in Lok Sabha on Increase in slum population, 16/12/2015. As per information provided by the Office of Registrar General of India (RGI), slum population in Delhi has decreased from 18,51,231 (Census 2001) to 16,17,239 (Census 2011). Details of slum population of million plus Cities (as per Census 2001 & Census 2011) are at Annexure-I. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation constituted a Technical Group (TG-12) on estimation of urban housing shortage of the country for the 12th Five Year Plan (2012- 17).

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Illegal mining, 16/12/2015. State Governments are empowered, under Section 23C of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act, 1957) to make rules for prevention of illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals; and, therefore, matters relating to illegal mining come under the legislative and administrative jurisdiction of State Governments.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Pollution-Free Cities, 15/12/2015. The Assistance for Abatement of Pollution, financial support for setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plants and National Air Quality Monitoring Programme implemented in association with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) / Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) are the important schemes aimed at pollution control. Question raised in Lok Sabha on Pollution by Industries, 15/12/2015. The State/ UT /Sector-wise environmental compliance status of compliance of the 17 category of highly polluting industries including fertilizers and petrochemicals as reported by the concerned SPCBs/PCCs is given at Annexure-I and Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Water pollution, 15/12/2015. To undertake programmes/ schemes for improvement of water and air quality, the Ministry provides ‘Assistance for Abatement of pollution’ and financial support for setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plants. Also, the NAQMP is implemented in association with CPCB and SPCBs/ PCCs. The details of financial support provided for these schemes are given at Annexure I and Annexure II respectively.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Poaching of Tigers, 15/12/2015. State-wise details of tiger death across the country, as reported by States (upto 21 November, 2015) are at Annexure-I. The Government of India through the National Tiger Conservation Authority / Project Tiger has taken a number of steps for protection of tiger and other wildlife interalia, including steps to prevent poaching, and to curb other illegal acts are at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Conservation of Lakes, 15/12/2015. The State wise details of amount sanctioned and released to the State Governments so far for undertaking various projects for conservation of lakes are given in Annexure-I. Under the NWCP/NPCA, an amount of 145.65 crore has so far been released to the concerned State Governments for undertaking various conservation activities in 80 identified wetlands. The State-wise details of amount released to the State Governments so far under NWCP/NPCA are given in Annexure-II.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Solar and Wind Power Plants, 14/12/2015. A capacity of 2713.97 MW of Solar and 6091 MW of Wind power has been added during last three years i.e. 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 in the country. As per information provided by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), State-wise details of power generated by such plants during last three years are given at annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Infrastructure and development activities in and around sanctuaries and national parks, 14/12/2015. The Standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has not taken any decision ‘not to consider any activity in and around Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks’. The details of the decisions taken in the 36th meeting of the Committee held on 4th November 2015 are given in the Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Illegal coal mining, 14/12/2015. Cases of illegal mining are detected predominantly in the eastern region, mainly in the States of Jharkhand, covering Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) and Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL) and West Bengal covering ECL and BCCL. List of such illegal mining sites of ECL, BCCL and CCL is enclosed as annexure.
