Horticultural Statistics at a Glance 2015 is the premier publication of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, which serves as an authentic source of data on various aspects of horticultural crops of India. The publication presents a comprehensive picture of the Indian horticulture sector by using statistical data across states, districts and time periods, covering diverse aspects such as area, production, productivity, growth trends, percentage share, value of output and so on for major horticultural crops.

The Statistical Year Book 2016 provides both time series and cross sectional data covering various sectors. It includes all India time series data for over a decade and State level time series data for recent years. Further, to contextualize the performance of various sectors in India, chapter wise commentary has been suitably modified to include global and domestic environment, Government policies and interventions that shape up various sectors, international comparisons, historical trends etc besides current performance.

The publication “Chemicals & Petrochemicals Statistics at a Glance” is brought out by Statistics and Monitoring Division of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals from 2007. The publication contains the latest available information on the chemical and petrochemical sector in respect of India and world as well.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Organic Farming, 22/12/2015. As per the data provided by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) total certified organic produce under National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) during the year 2014-15 is 1095754.14 MT. Crop/ category wise detail is attached at Annexure –I and State-wise production details is at Annexure – II. The pattern of financial assistance provided to State Governments through various schemes for promotion of organic farming is given at Annexure-III.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Forest Cover, 22/12/2015. The State-wise details of fund released under National Afforestation Programme during last three years and current year are given in Annexure I. Further, the Green India Mission aims at increasing the forest/ tree cover by 5 million hectare as well as, increasing the quality of the existing forest cover in another 5 million hectare. The Ministry has released Rs.4994.55 lakhs and 1265.50 lakhs to the States in the financial year 2011-12 and 2013-14 for preparatory activities for implementation of Green India Mission.

Question raised in Lok Sabha Conservation of Rivers, 22/12/2015. The programmes of NRCP & NGRBA (till 01/08/2014) have covered polluted stretches of 42 rivers in 199 towns spread over 21 States at a sanctioned cost of `11212.33 crore so far, as per details at Annexure-I. Sewage treatment capacity of 5084 million litres per day (mld) has been created so far under these two programmes. The details of funds released to various State Governments for implementation of sanctioned works under NRCP/NGRBA programmes during the last three years and current year, State-wise are at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Cleaning of Rivers, 22/12/2015. Discharge of untreated and partially treated sewage from cities / towns and industrial effluents constitute a major source of pollution in rivers. As per the report published by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in February 2015, 302 polluted river stretches have been identified on 275 rivers based on Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels, a key indicator of organic pollution. The State-wise details are at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Afforestation in Wastelands, 22/12/2015. In 2015-16, IWMP has been amalgamated as the Watershed Development Component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). Under IWMP/PMKSY, a total of 8214 projects have been sanctioned for the treatment of an area of 39.07 million ha so far at a total amount of Rs.12451.86 crore released to the States. The area covered under afforestation and number of trees planted under IWMP/PMKSY is not separately collated and maintained by DoLR.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Safe drinking water to villages, 21/12/2015. Ministry maintains data regarding coverage of habitations with drinking water supply in rural areas of the country in terms of habitations and not in terms of villages.As reported by States / UTs into the online Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) there are no habitations without drinking water facilities.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Mineral Production Index, 21/12/2015. Index of Industrial Production (IIP) covers mining sector, manufacturing and electricity with the corresponding weights 14.157%, 75.527% and 10.316% respectively. The base year for the present series of IIP is 2004-05. As per available information, the index of mineral production for the last three years and the current year is given in this document. Details of contribution of public sector and private sector in value of mineral production (excluding atomic and minor minerals) is also given.
