The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday issued directions to authorities that no new industry be set up in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh's Sonebhadra district without requisite consent and clearances.

A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar sought responses of the Centre and the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh by March 3 on a plea opposing establishment of new units as well as expansion of existing ones in the two districts.
