Steel Melting Shop-1 (SMS-1) is one of the prime shops of Bhilai Steel Plant, which has a capacity of producing 2.5 MT of crude steel. An epidemiological survey was conducted in 21 panchayats of Keezhapavoor block, Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. The villagers and school children revealed the prevalence of dental and skeletol fluorosis. The samples were also chemically analyzed for their water quality parameters.
