CPCB implements the National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring (NAMP) through a network comprising 544 operating ambient air quality stations covering 224 cities/towns in states and Union territories of the country in compliance with the mandate under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 to collect compile and disseminate the inf

These are the latest guidelines issued by CPCB on measurement of ambient air pollutants for implementation of uniform air quality standards across the country, irrespective of the land use pattern.

This report is the outcome of the study on performance evaluation of STPs funded under National River Conservation Plan of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India carried out by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

This new report by CPCB with water quality data from 2500 water quality monitoring stations, located on important rivers & lakes indicates that organic and bacterial pollution continue to be the major water quality issues due to discharge of untreated domestic wastewater from urban centres.

Plasma pyrolysis is one of the technologies which could be opted for disposal of plastic waste. In Plasma pyrolysis, high temperature is produced using plasma torch in oxygen starved environment to destroy plastic waste efficiently and in an eco-friendly manner.

E-waste has been defined as “waste electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part or rejects from their manufacturing and repair process, which are intended to be discarded”.

CPCB has notified these rules with the primary objective to channelize electronic waste generated in the country for environmentally sound recycling which is largely controlled by the un-organized sector who are adopting crude practices that results into higher pollution and less recovery.

CPCB has established the National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring (NAMP) Network, covering 209 cities/towns of the country in compliance with the mandate under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 to collect compile and disseminate information on air quality.
