The unemployment rate for persons of 15 years and above in urban areas slipped to 8.7 per cent in October-December 2021 from 10.3 per cent in the year-ago quarter, showed a periodic labour force survey by the National Statistical Office (NSO).

This first volume of the EnviStats – India 2022 was published by the National Statistical Office of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, on March 31, 2022. The EnviStats were first published in 2018 and this is the fifth edition in the series.

This publication, the 28th in the series, is an updated and integrated repository of statistics on energy resources and highlights the India’s commitment and the progress made so far in the area of reliable, sustainable and efficient energy systems in the country.

This Strategy document is envisaged to be a guidance tool that is self-evolving in nature. It will provide the much-needed impetus for moving towards the targeted goal of an improved set of environmental accounts. The strategy also sets a goal for betterment in terms of quality, coverage and standards.

This publication, 5th in series, has been prepared with the objective of providing data help to policy and programme making for elderly population. Attempts have been made to cull out data on different aspects of elderly population from different sources and put them together at one place.

Agriculture and allied sectors (i.e. crops, livestock, forestry and logging, fishing and aquaculture) play a vital role in Indian economy. It contributes around 18% of the country's Gross Value Added at basic prices and employs nearly half of the workforce.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 for the next 15 years covering all aspects of development. Countries were expected to implement the SDGs at national level based on national priorities.

The Ministry is now releasing ‘Sustainable Development Goals - National Indicator Framework, Progress Report 2021 (version 3.0) which shows the data-based evidence of India’s progress towards achieving the SDGs and associated targets. The report will also help policy makers in identifying thrust areas where interventions need to be focused.

In view of importance of regular reporting of the state-wise values of HDI, GDI and GII, an attempt has been made to compute HDI, GDI and GII using the HDRO methodology and available data sets for the States/UTs as well as for the country as a whole for the years 2011-12 and 2017-18.

This publication, the 28th in the series, presents an integrated database on Energy Statistics in the country. Keeping in view the importance of collated statistics of energy resources, this repository serves as a vital instrument in providing a holistic picture of the changing energy scenario of the country.
