The government has shelved plans to import about 10,000 tractors under the Benazir Tractor Scheme (BTS) and decided that only locally made tractors would be provided to the farmers at subsidised rates under this scheme. This was stated by Federal Minister for Industries and Production Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo while talking to vice president PAPAAM Tariq Nazir during a meeting in Islamabad.

Farmers will be happy only if they get good rains and sufficient fertilisers. They were is deep trouble due to the improper supply of fertilisers.

Jute cultivation in all eight upazilas of the district has been facing a setback due to continuous hot spell during the current season.

According to district Agriculture Extension Department office, it was fixed up to bring 30,000 hectares of land under jute cultivation, one of the main jute producing areas of the country.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa on Monday, said that the government had taken adequate steps to provide the required quantity of chemical fertilisers for farmers in the State.

Agricultural activities gained momentum in Kolar, following rain in the last week. Farming community got engaged in brisk ploughing, resulting in low voters turnout.

Bangarpet taluk of Kolar district received good rain for continues four days, as a result of which farming activities picked up momentum.

The farmers of Srinivaspur are making good use of Honge flowers. It is traditionally believed that the Honge flowers are useful as external manure for several horticultural produce. The Honge flowers, believed to produce a good peak, if used as manure.

Kissan Support Service Limited (KSSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with Pak Arab Fertilizer to ensure timely availability of fertilisers, seeds, pesticides and other agriculture inputs to the farmers, Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, President Zari Tariqiati Bank (ZTBL) said here on Sunday while addressing first KSSL employees' convention at Officers' Club.

The government has taken up an agricultural rehabilitation programme aiming to provide input support free to some 2025 small and marginal farmers of four districts, said agriculture ministry sources.
