The majority of farmers in sub-Saharan Africa are small scale entrepreneurs whose farm operations are performed with low input agricultural technologies. Many of these technologies are supported with low input farm power and simple machines. Essentially, low input agricultural technologies are embodied in the refined indigenous knowledge systems.

There is a gradual increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs)like CH4 and N2O in ambient air due to intensive agriculture, rapid industrialization and the expanding transport sector. About 80% of N2O is produced biologically and the major sources are agricultural fields, wetlands, sediments, animal
wastes and landfills. Emission of N2O from the soil is due to nitrification and e-nitrification processes.

Guntur, Sept. 3: The district collector, Mr B. Venkatesam, on Wednesday said there would be no scarcity of fertilisers in the district with the beginning of the arrival of stocks to railway yard, Nehru Nagar in Guntur.

The collector made a surprise check of fertiliser stocks being received at the railway yard on Wednesday evening.
