A case study is done in Salem City, India for ambient air quality for major air pollutants for a period of one year from Oct 2003 to Sep 2004 at the six selected stations. (2007)

Mandiakudar is a rural area near Rourkela, the steel city of Orissa. A large number of mini cement plants are in operation in and around Rourkela.

Air Quality Impact Assessment studies of Singoli Bhatwari Hydroelectric Power Plant are reported. The plant site is connected to the dam site via a road. Computations of four pollutants namely Carbon Monoxide, Sulphur Dioxide, Oxides of Nitrogen and Suspended Particulate Matter have been made at various sites around the plant using CALINE-3 model. Sources considered responsible for air pollution are vehicular traffic on road and construction activities around the plant site.

A study of automobile pollution in Kolkata has been made using CALINE 4 model. This model was selected as it offered several advantages over other models. It has been first used as the base model to develop the correction factors for the application of this model for the city of Kolkata, and then the modified model with the correction factors has been validated. Carbon Monoxide was chosen for the model because it is principally emitted from vehicular sources and daily background concentration data of this gas were available for a year for comparative studies.

Data generated by CPCB of ambient air quality in various cities and towns of India under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP) have been analyzed. A decreasing trends has been obseved in ambient sulphur dioxide levels in many cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai etc. This may be due to various interventions like reduction of sulphur in diesel, use of CNG as the vehicular fuel in Delhi and Mumbai etc.

During recent years a number of different species of lichens have been found (species richness) and the presence of indicator species has been studied to characterize regional air quality impact on lichen populations. The following review describes some of the pollutants affecting lichens, mechanisms of pollutant accumulation by lichens, physiological responses to pollution, and methods of study utilizing lichens.

The distribution of microorganisms, and especially pathogens, over airborne particles of different sizes has been ignored to a large extent, but it could have significant implications regarding the dispersion of these microorganisms across the planet, thus affecting human health. March 2008

Air quality in Europe has declined in recent years, according to a report from the European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC), which also cautions that the short time period involved makes it difficult to draw reliable conclusions. March 2008

Crop residue burning results in the emission of many a toxic pollutants. These emissions can travel long distances affecting thereby the entire region. Due to these emissions the air quality of the region worsens, which results in nose and throat itching and burning, and irritation of the airway tract.

There's good news and bad news when it comes to air quality in Israel. On the one hand, Israel's annual monitoring report for 2006 reveals improvements in air pollution, especially when it comes to pollution from transportation sources in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
