In this paper an attempt has been made to undertake performance evaluation of the two well-known regulatory models, AERMOD (07026) and ADMS-Urban (2.2) for a tropical city such as Delhi. The model is applied to estimate ambient air concentrations of SO2 and NO2 for the years 2000 and 2004 over seven sites in Delhi. Both model evaluation and inter-comparison is performed.

Asansol city is an industrial urban area which is also part of the Raniganj Coalfield area and is located in the Burdwan district of West Bengal. Over the last five years there was hectic development in the area in terms of industries, vehicles and infrastructures.

In this paper, an analysis of data from continuous ambient air monitoring station in Hyderabad is reported to better understand daily and seasonal trends of particulates and chemistry of ozone pollution in the atmosphere.

The aim of the study was to investigate the association of ambient air pollution and daily mortality in Erfurt, Germany, over a 10.5-year period after the German unification, when air quality improved.

An attempt has been made to quantify the relative abundance and size distribution of oily-droplets in the ambient air of Shillong using an optical microscope. The sampling was carried out at controlled, moderate traffic, high traffic, traffic intersections, industrial estates and elevated specific locations in different seasons during 1998-2000.

Jamshedpur, Feb. 10: The industrial hubs of Seraikela and Chaibasa can look forward to a less-polluted environment. For, the regional office of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) is setting up two ambient air quality monitoring stations there.

Senior officials of the JSPCB said that they have already received the go-ahead from higher authorities.

CHENNAI: In an effort to monitor the levels of highly-toxic Carbon Monoxide in the ambient air, CO analysers will soon be installed at five locations in the city.

The equipment will be installed in Anna Nagar, T. Nagar, Vallalar Nagar, Adyar and Kilpauk. Equipment of the Chennai Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme is already functioning at these five locations.

Close collaboration between scientists in China, India, Italy, Switzerland, and IIASA has resulted in a tool to help policymakers in China and India make sense of the complexities of air pollutant controls and greenhouse gas mitigation.
