The global economic slump and high interest rates on automobile loans might have dampened the sales of two and four-wheelers, but in Namma Bengaluru, vehicles continue to flood the roads.

According to statistics available from the RTO, nearly 100 people apply for driving licences everyday.

From the outside, the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network Centre (ISTRAC) at Peenya, Bangalore, looks like any other government office. But it is a different story inside

Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board will soon launch a drive to detect what the Board terms as "unaccounted water" mainly due to unauthorised connections and evasion of pro-rota charges and is hoping to generate an additional revenue of around Rs 300 crore by plugging such leakages in next one year.

The costs of the 'Namma Metro' project will go up by at least Rs 2,000 crore once the project cost is revised next year, after completion of the tender process of stations, rolling stock (coaches) and reaches 2 and 3.

This was announced by B S Sudhir Chandra, Director (Project and Planning), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) here on Thursday.
