KOCHI: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in its fourth assessment report warns that 20 to 30 percent of plant and animal species will be at risk of extinction if the rise in global average temperature exceeds two to three degree Celcius.

WASHINGTON - Trees in the western United States and Canada are dying twice as quickly as they did just 30 years ago, with rising average temperatures almost certainly to blame, researchers reported on Thursday.
