Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Kamlesh Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 17/02/2025.

The matter is related to the quality of water in river Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj. The tribunal was also examining the allegations of the discharge of untreated sewage through the drains in river Ganga and Yamuna with reference to Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela.

The District Commissioner, Udalguri, Assam filed its reply February 15, 2025 in the matter of Atanu Borthakur Vs Union of India & Others. The matter is related to illegal mining activities in Udalguri district.

The petitioner had alleged large scale illegal mining activities taking place in Udalguri district in gross violation of environmental rules and guidelines. The petitioner had also said that there is no approved District Survey Report till date and mining activities were being carried on in large scale in the absence of any approved DSR.

In the original application, applicant has raised the issue of unscientific management of the horses plying in Kufri and regulation of the tourist activities and consequential damage to the natural vegetation, local ecology and environment.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Bhuwan Chandra Bhatt Vs Member Secretary, Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board & Others dated 13/02/2025.

The application, based on a letter petition, a resident of village Kunidhar, tehsil Bhikiasen, Almora had made a complaint about indiscriminate felling of Chir and Banj trees by the solar power companies.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Satishchandra Patil Tripathi Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 10/02/2024. The MA has been registered on the basis of the compliance report dated June 22, 2024 filed by Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) in compliance of the NGT order dated February 12, 2024 passed in OA No. 487/2023.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News item titled "Uttarakhand HC License expired why is floating hotel running?" appearing in the Times of India dated 07.01.2024.

The MA was registered on the basis of the report dated June 14, 2024 filed by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in compliance with the NGT order, February 12, 2024. In the OA, registered suo motu based on a news item, the issue under consideration was operation of a floating hotel in Tehri Lake inspite of expiry of license and consequential pollution in river Ganga.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled "Noida authority dumping treated water into drains alleges activist" appearing in the Hindustan Times dated 11.06.2024.

In the original application, registered suo-moto, Tribunal is examining the allegation of discharge of treated water from the STP by New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) in the drain instead of utilising it for irrigation and other purposes.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News Item titled "Heavy metals in PM 2.5 New Study reveals air quality concerns in East Delhi" appearing in the Times of India dated 29.09.2024.

The original application has been registered on the basis of the news item based upon the study conducted by the IIT, Delhi revealing detection of alarming levels of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, nickel in the air and further disclosing that in East Delhi District, chromium, copper, zinc, molybdenum and lead were the major heavy metals found in PM2.5.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jagdev Vs Lieutenant Governor of Delhi & Others dated 06/02/2025.

The NGT, October 17, 2019 had directed that the flood plains of a river cannot be allowed to be occupied as such occupation could damage the ecology of the river and has directed to keep river Yamuna free from encroachment. The court had also directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and Forest Department to take action in accordance with law.
