Ahmedabad: Its yet another milestone for BRTS-Ahmedabad. Its being adjudged the best sustainable transport system in the world. This is the first time that Sustainable Transport Award is given to a city in South Asia. Ahmedabad BRTS happened to be the only mass transit system from India that was nominated for this award which was to be conferred in Washington DC in the US.

Mumbai The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) says it will not implement the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project; it wants the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) or BEST to take over.

The decision came after the MMRDA had commissioned and received a draft engineering report from the consultants.

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors has undertaken an exhaustive check-up of all its low-floor high-capacity CNG buses supplied to Delhi Transport Corporation so far. The process will be completed by this month-end . The move comes in the wake of a series of fire accidents in these new buses raising passenger safety concerns.

Ahmedabad: After a series of incidents where swanky Tata buses being used by Delhi Transport Corporation were either catching fire or developing snags, Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) has engaged an expert to give detailed report on them. The report to be submitted within a week and would examine the lowfloored buses that run on CNG in the national capital.

Ahmedabad: The BRTS of Ahmedabad has been nominated for the 2010 Sustainable Transport Award to be conferred on January 12 in Washington DC.
Ahmedabad will compete with BRTS systems in Cali city of Columbia, Curitiba city of Brazil, Guadalajara city in Mexico and Johannesburg in South Africa.
