The chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), New Delhi, will now look into the alleged non-functioning of the effluent treatment plant (ETP) of the Punjab Meats Limited (PML) Industries, Dera Bassi. The PML is owned by Dr A S Bindra, father of ace shooter Abhinav Bindra.

The High Court has directed the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) to initiate action against a Maharashtra-based agro company which is establishing a distillery unit at a village in Bagalkot.

To spread awareness about environmental issues, Greenpeace India has set up a stall at the CII Fair being held at Parade Ground in Sector 17. The group is also enlisting volunteers to creating awareness about deforestation, industrial pollution and climate change.

The campaign also includes educating people about increasing the mileage of their cars and reducing carbon dioxide emission.

PARADIP: The Orissa High Court has issued a stay order on the directive of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) for closure of Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL). Recently, the SPCB had slapped a closure notice on PPL for violating pollution control norms.
