Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board report in pursuance of the National Green Tribunal order, November 1, 2022 (Rambharose Tomar Vs State of Uttar Pradesh).

The NGT directed the UPPCB to file a report on the establishment of the brick kilns in the state. The report should carry information on compliance of environmental norms and action taken against the defaulters, the order said.

The issue for consideration is permissibility of operation of hot mix plants at Noida beyond ‘carrying capacity’ of the ambient air of the area as per assessment of the statutory regulators – the CPCB and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, thereby adversely affecting the environment and the public health.

The matter related to ash dyke breach of the Chachai ash pond of Amarkantak thermal power station in district Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh which is operated by Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (MPPGCL). The ash dyke breach took place on the morning of February 11, 2022.
