The Planning Commission of India has praised the efficient implementation progress of Jawharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Madhya Pradesh. The Union Ministry of Urban Development has released the third instalment of the additional central assistance for JNNURM to the state. The state has utilised 90 percent of the funds made available under 36 schemes.

The Chitale Committee, set up immediately after the calamity, recommended that the existing network of Storm Water Drains (SWD) be augmented to cater to a rainfall intensity of 50mm/hour from the current 25mm as per the recommendation of Brimstowad report.
