The flood situation in Assam worsened today with over 27,000 people affected in more than 70 villages across the state.

Assam will soon introduce Right to Health Services; where in free healthcare services would be given to all poor people, said state's chief minister, Tarun Gogoi.

The situation was particularly grim in Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts in eastern Assam, where nearly 45,000 people have been affected.

At least 82 brick fields, out of 150, in the Lakshmipur district are operating without the approval of the administration. They also did not follow any guideline while being set up.
