Mumbai The residents opposing the elevated Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro corridor are conducting their own feasibility study of the proposed underground stretch between Andheri and Bandra with the help of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B).

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been sanctioned a loan of Rs 4,061.81 crore from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the developing Phase II of the Delhi Metro.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has sanctioned a loan of 77.75 yen, (around Rs 4,061 crore) to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the development of Phase- II. The DMRC, under Phase II will provide an additional 80 km in a total of six lines, three of which are extensions. Another benefit of the project will be to promote tourism.

March 19: The Citizens for a Better Public Transport (CBPTH), a conglomeration of 15 NGOs, asked the state government should immediately scrap the "concessional agreement" it has entered into with Maytas to develop the Metro Rail project in Hyderabad.

March 17: Maytas Infra on Tuesday formally requested the state government to extend the deadline to achieve financial closure for the Rs 12,000-crore Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
It is learnt that Maytas Infra wants three to six months more but sources close to the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, said he had directed the officials to go by the deadlines stipulated in the agreement.

Mumbai: Metro II is still to get a bidder, but Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU) is thinking of a pilot station that will have a 'circle of influence'.

The 'circle' concept involves an area of 500 sqm around metro stations that is developed as business hubs. And the government gives out incentives such as higher FSI for this.

Mumbai: Even as the railways grapple to complete the Phase-I of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), work for the Phase-II has already got underway. This phase involves laying of the fifth and sixth lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSTM) and Kurla, as well as Thane and Diva and the sixth line between Borivali and Mumbai Central.
