Next month ministers from ten countries will sign a pact to start work on an underwater electrical grid to link up these disparate projects.

China and Russia signed a string of agreements to boost their new energy partnership, although finalization of a long-awaited gas-supply pact remained out of reach.

NEW DELHI: Lauding the major renewable energy initiative of Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission, Russia on Tuesday expressed strong confidence that both New Delhi and Moscow had great potential for forging joint ventures and setting up manufacturing facilities for application of solar energy in the fields of industrial, military, civil and space sectors.

India and Russia signed key agreements on the civilian use of nuclear power and military and technical cooperation here on Monday, marking a strong consolidation of traditional ties between the two countries.

Venezuela has yet to develop a plan to explore or exploit its uranium deposits despite comments by a government official saying it was working with Iran to locate them, Venezuela's energy minister told Reuters.

On Friday, Mining Minister Rodolfo Sanz said Iran and Venezuela were working together to find uranium, and preliminary tests showed the South American country holds large deposits.

The United States is still working toward an agreement with G20 partners to phase out subsidies for fossil fuels, a top White House adviser said ahead of this week's G20 summit.

Michael Froman, deputy national security adviser and top G20 aide to President Barack Obama, said the United States was hoping to reach an agreement about the issue at the Pittsburgh summit on Thursday and Friday.
