India has set ambient air quality standards for several pollutants. According to the rules of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the annex monitoring agency, the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) should be met for at least 98 per cent of the days in a year.

The ambient air quality data monitored by Central Pollution Control Board at six locations in Delhi, under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP), during October 2016 is annexed. The data reveals that, SO2 and NO2 are within National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) of 80µg/m3 (24 hourly standards for SO2 and NO2) at all six locations in Delhi during October 2016.
