According to the applicants, their units were not in operation at the relevant time and did not dump the hazardous waste for which they are held liable.

Compliance report in O.A. No. 160/2019 in the matter of Ranjeet Singh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 20/01/2020. The matter related to M/s Awadh Sugar & Energy Ltd, Hata, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh not following environmental norms. During inspection by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), hazardous waste like oil and oily sludge recovered from ETP was burned along with baggasse as a fuel in boilers. Also, there was no storage option for oil/oily sludge.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vinit Kumar Vs Union of India & Others dated 16/01/2020 regarding brick kilns operating in Meerut, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar districts without valid consent and without converting to zig zag technology resulting in pollution.

The matter relates to operation of boilers of distillery unit operated by M/s Dhampur Sugar Mills in District Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh affecting the health of the students in the vicinity. The Uttar Pradeh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) and the District Magistrate, Bijnor was directed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to look into the matter and submit a report within a period of one month.
