United States has provided $1.5 million of funding to UN's World Health Organisation (WHO) agency to help it establish an additional 40 treatment centres to fight water-borne diseases in the 'high risk' flood-affected areas of Pakistan.

The grant brings to 55 the number of US-funded treatment centres in the hardest flood-hit districts.

In this research paper, PATH hopes to identify, adapt and develop water treatment devices and business models for water treatment devices for the economically weaker sections of society. A key to good health is safe and clean drinking water. This however, is not always available to the economically weaker sections.
