40 species of butterflies, under 26 genera and 5 families were recorded from four habitat types of Allain-Duhaingan (streams) catchment, where a hydroelectric power station is proposed.

Asiatic jackal (Canis aureus) is found to coexist with leopard and sloth bear in Marwahi Forest Division, Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh). Jackals were found to be omnivorous in this area; they consumed plant material, seeds and fruits. Jackals are creating considerable nuisance due to increasing biting cases to local people in Marwahi Forest Division.

This paper documents the status of the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus), its distribution, movement, migratory routes and other elephant and habitat management related information across the administrative ranges of Kalakkad and Mundunthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR) in Southern India.

A study was undertaken to assess the number of herbal products in selected categories of face care, tooth care, hair care and foot care at Haridwar, Uttarakhand. It was observed that maximum number of products were available under hair care category.

Invasive weeds have become a major environmental concern at local, national, regional and global level. Very recently, the authors have noticed an exotic temperate weed in the Mussoorie hills i.e. Stevia ovata. It is spreading in moist, South-West hill slopes.

Developing countries are being encouraged to diversify their food exports by developing new products and adding more value to existing ones. Adding value to and diversifying food exports depends not only on changing production but also processing systems. The traditional Indian fruits are very rich in nutritional parameters and a variety of by-products can also be prepared from them.

In recent years, the large scale urbanization, industrialisation and associated environmental alteration and its impact on biodiversity pose a threat to human existence through basic necessities, recreation and the ecological functions.

Climate change may manifest significantly in Himachal Pradesh, with the impacts likely to adversely affect large percentage of the population depending on natural resources. A large scale shifting of forest biomes is being indicated. Himachal has to think of enough mitigation to avoid the unmanageable and enough adaptation to manage the unavoidable.

Optimization of ecosystem goods and services from plantations depend on their sustainable production, protection and management. So far, the objective of attaining optimum production of environmental goods and services has remained a far cry due to uncontrolled exploitation, ignorance and inefficient management strategies.

Climate change and forests are intrinsically linked. On the one hand, changes in global climate are already stressing forests through higher mean annual temperatures, altered precipitation patterns and more frequent and extreme weather events. At the same time, forests and the wood they produce, trap and store CO2, play a major role in mitigating climate change.
