The occurrence and distribution of 81 wood decaying fungi on different hosts in forest wood depots of Chhattisgarh is reported. The study area is confined to nine wood depots and each wood depot, depending on area occupied, is divided into five sectors.

Mine spoils are sub-soil material produced as a byproduct of mining activity. Virtually being a sub-soil material, mine spoils are physically, nutritionally and microbiologically impoverished habitats, thwarting the establishment and growth of plants species.

Prosopis juliflora, a native of South to Central America, was introduced in India (Rajasthan) to combat desertification of Thar during early 20th century. Presently, this species is a most vigorously spreading plant species in the arid zone covering neutral alkaline and saline soil and has invaded most part of the state.

Antagoistic bacteria were isolated from soil samples collected from different forest areas of Jabalpur, Mandla, Umaria and Bilaspur. One antagonistic bacteria Bacillus firmus was isolated from the soil of Belkund teak forest nursery, Kundam Project, Forest Development Corporation, Jabalpur.
