Eleven children and five women fell unconscious after drinking contaminated water in Lasain Nawab area here on Sunday, hospital sources said.

A new campaign to save lives and prevent drug resistance by driving the price of the best malaria medicine down to as little as 20 cents was announced Friday by international health agencies and European governments.

The subsidy program, unveiled in Norway, will have an initial budget of $225 million and will be run by a new partnership called the Affordable Medicines Facility for Malaria.

Around 2400 children were vaccinated during two-day polio vaccination campaign launched by Payaam- a volunteer organisation in collaboration with Islamabad Traffic Police and Ministry of Health. A large number of parents visited the camps set up during the campaign and got their kids vaccinated.

: In a bid to reach maximum number of children with the vital oral polio vaccine, the health authorities in association with a cellular service provider, launched an SMS broadcast to reach out to millions of parents in selected high-risk zones across country, said Health Minister Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.

KOLKATA, April 11: The Science Express was flagged off by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to create awareness and develop a scientific temperament among people, particularly among students. The train, displaying gadgets in 16 of its coaches, arrived at Sealdah Station this morning and will be open to visitors till 14 April.
