Hyderabad, May 10: Even as Gandhi and Fever Hospitals in the city are being thronged by victims of diarrhoea and cholera, the minister for health, Mr S. Chandrasekhar, on Sunday, played down the cholera outbreak in the city and blamed the media for triggering panic among people.
May 10: Even as the city awaited the confirmatory tests on the presence of cholera in the city, it transpired that state health officials have flouted every rule in the book in treating cholera patients, and victims.
HYDERABAD: The health authorities on Saturday confirmed that 16 patients, who were admitted to the Fever and the Gandhi Hospitals here between May 5 and 6, have tested positive for cholera. Out of the 16 confirmed, 12 were from the Fever Hospital while the rest were admitted in the Gandhi hospital.
Developing countries including Pakistan are facing the burden of communicable disease including dengue, fevers, diarrhoea and cholera, which may result in emergencies.
Kenya's huge and squalid slums don't have much of anything, except mountains of trash that fill rivers and muddy streets, breeding disease.
