BHUBANESWAR: The aluminium major NALCO today signed a memorandum of understanding with the State Government for establishment of an aluminium park at Angul.

The proposed park will be a joint venture of the NALCO and the Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and it will be close to the smelter plant. The estimated project cost of the aluminium park is Rs 75 crore.

Many of the world's largest deltas are densely populated and heavily farmed. Yet many of their inhabitants are becoming increasingly vulnerable to flooding and conversions of their land to open ocean.

INSPIRED by former President A P J Abdul Kalam, a group of college students here has formed an association to uplift villages in the district. Around 1,000 students from 50 colleges across the city are members of Kalam Students Foundation, which will focus on improving the infrastructure facilities at villages.

ANGUL: Coal transportation in Talcher coalfield area, which supplies coal to seven states, has been hampered due to lack of infrastructure facilities. Millions of tonnes of coal stocked at various colliery pit heads could not be evacuated due to poor and dilapidated roads, according to sources.
