People of Pillaiperumalnallur near Porayar in Nagapattinam district laid siege to a private oil exploration company on Monday in protest against the failure of the company management to keep to its promise to the locals in a land deal, leading to the arrest of about 75 of them.

Kadapa Dec. 25: The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, said that state government was providing infrastructure and power subsidies for development of industries. The Chief Minister took part in several inauguration and stone setting ceremonies at Pulivendula as part of his four day tour of Kadapa district on Thursday. Dr Reddy inaugurated the Govindaraja textile factory at Pulivendula.

In a move to quicken the pace of infrastructure development on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), the Government has identified twelve early-bird projects in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, which will kick off before the master plan is put in place.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Municipal Commissioner K. S. Mehra will be presenting revised budget estimates for 2008-09 as well as budget estimates for 2009-2010 in respect of the general wing as well as slum and jhuggi-jhonpri wing of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi at its Standing Committee meeting on Friday.

The announcement was made by MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta on Thursday.
