JAIPUR: Jaipur is among the five cities in the state where malaria control activities would be monitored on a regular basis. The move came after the Centre directed the state to intensify monitoring in the five districts as deaths were reported due to malaria in 2011. Four malarial deaths were reported in the city in 2011.

Besides, three districts, including Bikaner, Barmer and Jaisalmer, have attracted the attention of the Centre as malaria cases have increased in western parts of the state.

Jaisalmer: Altogether 85 sheep and goats died on Sunday after drinking water from a tanka (small pond) at a hamlet near Sultana village in Jaisalmer district.

Four suspected cases of female infanticide in Jaisalmer this month

In a severe blow to the Rajasthan government’s campaign to save the girl child, four suspected cases of female infanticide have come up in Jaisalmer district since early this month. The shocking cases involve newborn girls either being starved to death or left to die without medical treatment during sickness. According to police sources, the suspicious cases have been recorded in different areas after the parents of baby girls allegedly left them to die of hunger and thirst.

JAIPUR: The medical, health and family welfare department managed to achieve only 85.09% of target set for full immunization of infants against various diseases in the financial year 2011-12.

The latest figures released by the health department shows that nine districts have failed to touch even 80% of the set target.It shows that there are nearly 15% of children left out from fully being vaccinated against various diseases. The vaccination targets were fixed on the basis of birth rate of the district.

Dibrugarh: A solar PV power plant has been established at Jeypore in Dibrugarh district by OIL, making it OIL’s major entry into the renewable energy sector. OIL also commissioned its maiden wind energy project at Lodurva in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan.

The 100 KW power grid interactive solar PV power plant with 220V, 3,000 AH battery back up was completed in-house by a team of OIL’s engineers and is about 15 km away from OIL’s field headquarters at Duliajan.

The company will set up a 160 MW power plant for the state electicity board

State-owned Bhel today said it has bagged Rs 380 crore order for setting up a 160 MW gas- based plant in Rajasthan. Bhel has secured a contract for setting up a 160 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) in Rajasthan from Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), said an official release.

Suzlon Group said the installed wind capacity at Jaisalmer Wind Park in Rajasthan had crossed 1,000 MW.

The Jaisalmer Wind Park being developed by the Suzlon Group has crossed 1,000 Mw of installed capacity and has reached 1,064 Mw (one gigawatt) on April 1. This makes the wind park, the largest of its kind in the country, Suzlon claimed in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company initiated the development of the wind park in 2001. Suzlon said in the filing that its entire wind portfolio -- from the earliest 350 Kw model to the latest S9X - 2.1 Mw series -- has been used to create the park.
