Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of H. P. Ranjanna Vs Union of India & Others dated 30/07/2021. The matter related to construction activities around the wetland area in Bengaluru, Karnataka - the city had a large number of lakes, but there is substantial extinction/disappearance due to encroachment, reclamation in the name of development.

The issue of ecological damage to the area between two lakes namely Kaikondarahalli Lake and Kasavanahalli Lake was taken by the NGT. 

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Sanjay Rao & Others Vs State of Karnataka dated 10/06/2021.

The issue for consideration is the remedial action against pollution of Kithiganahalli lake situated behind Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital, within remits of Bommasandra Pura Sabha, Anekal, Karnataka. The report filed by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, February 18, 2020 acknowledged damage to the lake by discharge of untreated sewage and other waste.

Report of the Joint Committee in Original Application No. 194 of 2020 in compliance of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order, October 7, 2020. The matter is related to sand mining in the districts of Gadag, Raichur and Kalburgi, Karnataka.

The Joint Committee inspected 36 mines in Gadag and one each in Raichur and Gulbarga districts. During the visit, mine owners expressed technical difficulties/non-viabilities in installing the dust control measures and implementation of water conservation measures.

Order of the Karnataka High Court regarding release of vehicles seized for violating Covid-19 lockdown norms.

The application was filed by the Karnataka government before the HC saying that the police was finding it difficult to find a proper place for parking of so many vehicles (1,37,503 two wheelers, 7,432 four wheelers and 7,123 other vehicles).

Changes in the timing and magnitude of rainfall can put a severe strain on agriculture. Additionally, an increase in extreme climate events such as heavy rainfall and dry spells can also affect agriculture. In Karnataka, agriculture is the key contributor to the state’s economy.
