Information regarding the occurrence of plant species, their local names, parts ued, formulations and vegetable preparations through interviews and discussions held with elderly persons of rural communities were recorded. The plant specimens were identified and herbarium sheets prepared for all the species. From the information documented and also from literature data, 9 vegetable plants having high nutrient value were selected.

KOLLAM: Tests conducted by the material testing laboratory at the TKM College of Engineering here have found that sand mined from Ashtamudi Lake is unfit for construction because of its high saline content.

THIRUVANATHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned an amount of Rs 40.12 crore from its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund to the state government.
