The All Punjab Kissan Convention (APKC) was held on Friday in connection with the International Farmers Day in memory of the landless tenants of Brazil under the banner of Anjuman Mozareen Punjab (AMP).

The Sindh government has distributed 42,203 acres of agricultural land among the landless farmers (Haris) in five months, it is learnt. According to sources, the provincial government had started the distribution of agricultural land to the landless Haris on November 15 last year and a target of distribution of 85,199 acres of land till June 30 was given to the Board of Revenue (BoR).

Dhanbad, Feb. 19: Aimed at ensuring greater transparency and connectivity, the Dhanbad forest division has floated a website www.dhanbadforest.org.

The website, which includes information on the history and biodiversity of forests in the division, was launched last Monday and is the first of its kind in the state.

The Nalbari Zila Krishak Sabha has decided to resort to an agitation in demand of land pattas to the genuine farmers who have been deprived due to wrong government policies. The Krishak Sabha, in its recently concluded two-day conference held at Ghograpar, adopted a number of resolutions in the interest of the farmers.

Resolving that agriculture land should be protected from being sold to real estate developers, the Kisan Sangh (Goa unit) has also demanded that mining leases should not be renewed and that new mining permissions should not be granted.
