Supreme Court directs all the states to expedite the process of appointment of Lokayukta at the earliest and inform the Apex Court of the progress reached on 10/07/2018 by means of a status report.

Diversity of wild edible minor fruits used by the ethnic communities of Tripura, India

The present study deals with the identification, documentation and exploration of wild edible fruits consumed by different indigenous inhabitants in four districts of Tripura, viz. Khowai (forest of Tablabari, Tulsigarh and Subalsingh), West Tripura (forest of Barmura), Sipahijala and Dhalai (forest of Manu, Ambassa). Wild fruits available in the mentioned area remain one of the major seasonal food intakes and play an important role in well-balanced diet and maintain healthy living of tribal people of Tripura.

A simplified soil nutrient information system: study from the North East Region of India

Soil fertility has direct implications on the agricultural production scenarios of a region. Surface soil samples at 1 km grid were collected to assess the fertility status of Lakhimpur district (Assam) in North East India. Fertility parameters like soil organic carbon, available nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, iron, manganese, zinc and copper were determined using standard analytical procedure.

Recognizing the rapid expansion of rubber plantation – a threat to native forest in parts of northeast India

With the current trend of land use/land cover (LULC) change taking place globally, several parts of northeast India are also showing signs of change in LULC pattern leading to forest loss. This study focusses on the expansion of monoculture rubber plantation (Hevea brasiliensis) in selected sub-watersheds in northeast India, and distributed in parts of north Tripura, Mizoram and a major portion in the Karimganj district of Assam.
