Chief Minister P.K. Dhumal has urged the people to extend full cooperation in the effective implementation of the pulse-polio campaign to ensure polio eradication. He administered anti-polio drops to children below the age of five year as part of the 14th pulse polio immunisation campaign here today. He said 7.24 lakh children would be administered polio drops at 5,885 booths all over the state.

KATRA :for the 3-day intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme, 42 booths were setup in Health Block Katra of district Reasi which also includes four booths setup on the track of Mata Vaishno Devi at different locations for the facilities of visiting pilgrims.

HYDERABAD: Health officials of the Union government have found two types of viruses that cause polio among children

DINDIGUL: A total of 2.30 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years will be immunised during the pulse polio programme to be held on December 21 and February 1. Twenty-five mobile medical centres will be set up to cover the children residing in remote and inaccessible areas, according to Collector R. Vasuki.

An official of the Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI) has said that during the polio vaccination campaign in the NWFP 267,269 children could not be immunised in parts of the province.

EDO health Dr Bux Ali Pitafi has announced that a anti-polio campaign will be launched in the district from November 24 to 26 to administer anti-polio drops to 301,697 children up to the age of 5 years.

At a press conference held here on Sunday, he said that 635 mobile teams, 87 fixed points and 72 transit points had been set up.

Back in Aurangabad after nine years a fresh case of polio has come to light in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra after nine years. Four-year-old Arbaz Hasan Khan was diagnosed with the viral disease on October 4 in the foothill village of Vetalwadi in Soygaon tehsil. Arbaz got polio despite having been given seven doses of polio vaccine at the nearby Jarandi primary health centre.
