Decides to open regional office in Dehradun, which will serve until permanent steps are taken

The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) on Wednesday decided to open a regional office in Dehradun, which will serve the State until permanent steps are taken.

It’s a two-way loss for several local farmers whose land was acquired for the special economic zone (SEZ) on Ajmer Road.

As the state government is mulling a proposal to allot the excess acquired land once again to the farmers after imposing minimum charges, affected farmers claim this will mean double loss for them as they will have to bear premium charges (for land conversion ) as well as charges on de-acquisition.
