Lok Sabha debates on global warming.

In the early 1970s, facing overwhelming obstacles, a young visionary named Paolo Lugari set out to build a sustainable village on los llanos, the remote plains of Colombia, some 500 kilometers east of the country

Social acceptance of renewable energy innovation has often been discussed in the context of large renewable technology projects, acceptance having been seen as rather passive consent by the public. The potential importance of micro-generation technologies in the future energy supply mix and policymakers’ increasing attention to these technologies requires a different approach to the social acceptance of renewable energy innovation and energy infrastructure technologies.

In a recent meet in Brussels, the European Union (EU) agreed to new emissions reduction targets, after a long tussle over renewable energy targets. On March 9, 2007, 27 EU member states agreed to

In a recent report prepared by its National Bureau of Statistics, China has acknowledged that its consumption of fossil fuels rose by 9.3 per cent in 2006 over the previous year. The report

How do we develop economically without degrading our environment? It is necessary to address this question because a large part of environmental losses is not factored into calculations of the Indian

Renewable energy contributed 7% of India's electricity generation in 2006, with about 9.1 GW of capacity. Nearly two-thirds of this contribution was from wind sources, 1.8 GW from small hydro, and 1 GW from biomass derived energy. The total generation potential from renewables is estimated at 172 GW. Meanwhile, the Indian government has committed to generate 10% of power from renewables by 2012, the end of the next planning cycle. This paper is a review of the state of the wind energy sector, and points to the role of policy and the CDM in future growth.
