Kochi, Aug. 30 Mr Mangala Rai, the Director General of Indian Council of Agriculture Research, has called for immediate steps to adapt ways to mitigate the impact of climate change on agriculture, as it is a cause of concern.

Hyderabad, Aug. 28: The committee on wildlife and environment protection on Thursday recommended the utilisation of bio-fertilisers to encourage people-friendly organic farming.

The committee also sought more subsidy for bio-fertilisers in comparison to synthetic fertilisers.

Stating that deficiency of micronutrient boron in Indian soil is the important reason for low yields of crops, Principal scientist Dr Edward Raja informed that this deficiency can be corrected by applying boron to soil in adequate quantities.

A task force will be constituted for monitoring pollution caused by brick kilns.

The task force will work under the district mining officer and is being constituted in view of a recent directive from the state chief secretary.

At present, more than 30 brick kilns are operational in and around the city.
