Bhata land is an important lateritic and well known category of wastelands, which covers extensive area in Chhattisgarh. Sporadic patches of plantations have been raised in this land on experimental basis, for selecting suitable species for taking up large-scale plantations. Present study was carried out in 20-years old plantations at Mohan bhata in Bilspur district.

Many evidences have been gathered to depict that climate change is taking place. A changing climate has strong implications for biodiversity changes and impact on the phenology and distribution of species alongwith community composition and ecosystem dynamics. These parameters may be used to find out indicator species to detect the climate change.

Hundreds of trees are protected as living natural monuments and are associated with wisdom and immortality in India. In Uttarakhand, some trees hold special cultural and religious significance like peepal, banyan, mango etc. It was at the International Forestry Conference at Rome in 1926 that Protection of Natural Features were discussed. Hyderabad, June 30: What do trees and plants have to do with the research output of an institution? Scientists at the National Geophysical Research Institute in Hyderabad believe that greenery on their campus is helping them produce more research papers than their counterparts elsewhere in the world. The NGRI has about 16,400 trees on its campus at Habsiguda. It is going to lose about 300 trees to road widening which the institute plans to compensate by planting 4,000 trees.

The present study gives an idea of changes taking place in pollen characteristics of Delonix regia and Peltophorum inerme under the influence of air pollution. Pollen germination, viability, size and pollen tube length were the parameters studied. The reduction in pollen viability and pollen tube length was more significant in P. inerme than D.

Effect of application of biofertilizers, Azospirillum, phosphate-solubilising bacteria (PSB) and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi was studied in a factoral experiment on production of planting propagules (stumps) of teak in nursery. Shimla - Alarmed over serious environmental damage at the Kacchi Ghati green belt, the forest department today slapped a penalty of Rs 4.5 lakh on the erring Public Works Department (PWD). The PWD has also been sent written orders to stop the work at the site and take immediate steps to restore the damage already caused to the trees. Any further defiance of the orders will call for invoking legal options and also arrest of the officials, the forest department warned.

In order to stop the damage to the environment by cutting trees during various festivals, Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale on Wednesday said the civic administration would initiate action against those selling branches of trees in the city.
