Coinciding with the 50th anniversary ofEarth Day, this report investigates the impact COVID-19 lockdowns have had on global particulate pollution levels.As lockdowns were implemented in response to the deadly coronavirus pandemic, the dramatic changes brought about by these restrictions have been described as the ‘largest scale experiment ever’

The nationwide Lockdown, in effect since the midnight of 24 March in view of COVID-19 pandemic, has resulted in significant improvement in air quality in the country, as revealed by data analysis and comparison of data for time before enforcement of restrictions.

Recently there have been multiple discussions about air quality improvements in Delhi and some reports also mentioned that Delhi has shown a 25% decrease in air pollution levels between 2016-2018 compared to the 2012-2014 .
