KOLKATA, 14 MARCH: Three persons were arrested from different parts of the city yesterday evening on charges of selling mineral water bottles filled with tap water.

Police said, the accused ~ Rameswar Yadav, Paramananda Rai and Sadhu Pandit ~ were remanded in police custody till 20 March after being produced before a city court this afternoon.

Builders Face Fine If Society With Occupation Certificate Pays More For Water

Mumbai: New water rules proposed by the BMC hydraulic department would make it mandatory for builders who have received an Occupation Certificate (OC) to ensure that the residents stop paying the higher rate for water and begin paying the regular rate.

The Shimla Municipal Corporation has proposed to hike the charges of drinking water by Rs 2.69 per kilo litre, supplied to over three lakh consumers of the town. The present rate of water in the town is Rs 4.24 per kilo liter, which is likely to go up to Rs 6.82 per kl. This was decided at a special meeting of the MC house on Wednesday.

This new water policy for Rajasthan presents the framework for sustainable development and management of water resources in the state. It focuses towards community-level empowerment and responsibility for water management.
