Gondal based company Hiramrut Energies Private Limited (HEPL) is setting up its second solar water heater manufacturing unit near Bavla. Under its solar water heater manufacturing arm, Sunray, HEPL is initially investing around Rs 35 crore, with a total investment of Rs 200 crore planned in next 3-4 years.

"We are setting up our next unit at Vasla village near Bavla taluka of Ahmedabad district. We have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Government in the recent Vibrant Summit 2011 for an investment of around Rs 250 crore," said Bhavesh Dholaria, managing director of Hiramrut Energies Privet Limited.

In a bid to reduce production cost which has gone up due to the rise in gas prices, Morbi-based ceramic manufacturers have now started switching over to coal gas fired furnace from the existing gas-based furnaces.

After the state government restricted fresh issuance and renewal of lease for mining in the state, bauxite miners in Porbandar area of Gujarat are facing tough times.

According to industry sources, over Rs 1,000 crore worth of investments of bauxite miners are believed to have been blocked due to the government's restriction. Porbandar District Chamber of Commerce and Industries officials maintained that about 8.3 million tonnes of bauxite stock is waiting for a dispatch permission from the authorities for past three years.
