BHOPAL: A mining plan cell has been constituted in Directorate of Geology and Mining. Superintendent Geology NK Hans has been appointed as the in-charge of the cell constituted to give recognition to qualified persons.

According to authorities, the cell will accord recognition to persons qualified to prepare mining plan as per amendments made to Madhya Pradesh Minor Minerals Rules-1996. Recognition will be given by Directorate of Geology and Mining.

BHOPAL: A consultation was held for reviewing the progress of European Union-supported Strengthening Adaptive Farming in Bangladesh, India and Nepal (SAFBIN) programme at Sagar on Wednesday. This program is being implemented in three districts of each of these countries.

The chief objective of the programme is building climate change resilience of small holder farming systems and helping small holder farmers achieve food and nutrition security by making small farming practices more sustainable and profitable.

BHOPAL: The state government has initiated legal proceedings to terminate power purchase agreement with Maheshwar Hydel Power Corporation Limited, starting with serving a legal notice of default to the promoters of the company. Delay in execution of the project is said to be the major reason for this action.

Notice has been served as project activities of the Maheswhar project are at a standstill and no funds are available for the completion of the project and rehabilitation and resettlement of the oustees. As no payments have been made, M/s BHEL and other contractors have withdrawn their personnel from the dam site.

BHOPAL: There is an urgent need to implement water management in the state. Regions like Malwa have been alarmingly overexploited. Highlighting these concerns, a one-day workshop on 'groundwater resources of Madhya Pradesh: opportunities, problems and strategies' was organised in Bhopal on Thursday.

Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), north central region, organized the workshop under the information, education and communication (IEC) programme. BHOPAL: A unique technique to extract oil from plastic waste promises to revolutionize the marketplace, according to Indore-based entrepreneur Manoj Sharma. The extracted oil can be used to power various industrial generators.

"First industrial setup employing the technique would begin in Godhra (Gujarat) on March 15," said Sharma. He has started a company promoting the invention in partnership with the patent owner Nilachal Bhattacharya.

BHOPAL: Country's biggest solar power plant to generate 130 MW electricity would be set up in Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious project cleared by departmental advisory committee of the State department New and Renewable Energy, according to press release here on Tuesday.

1,000 acre land has been earmarked for the plant in Neemuch district. Renewable energy accounts for just five per cent in total energy generation in Madhya Pradesh. At present, work is underway for 311 MW solar power projects in the state.
