Even as the high court’s decision on allowing a National Green Tribunal circuit bench here is pending, the court clarified on Wednesday that it would not hear 45 types of cases related to environmental issues.

With the court adopting such a stance, litigants in these 45 types of cases will have to travel to Chennai for grievance redressal before the National Green Tribunal’s regional bench there, which is expected to drive up the cost of litigation significantly.
