California's newly adopted low-carbon fuel standard may mark the beginning of the end of ethanol's coveted status as the sole US alternative motor fuel.

Britons will get cash incentives to buy electric and plug in hybrid cars, the Labour government announced on Thursday, reports our special correspondent.

Motorists are to be offered up to 5,000 pounds to encourage them to buy electric or hybrid cars under a new government plan.
