Jaipur: The nutrition level among adolescent girls at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in Sirohi district was found to be extremely low. Nearly 99% of the girls were anemic.

Health authorities reduce dose of the drug to children falling sick

A day after over 800 schoolchildren were taken ill due to intake of iron and folic acid (IFA) tablets across the state, nearly 100 children fell ill in Sirsa and an equal number of children were taken ill in Fatehabad today.

Nearly 880 students, 150 of them girls, suffered from nausea and complained of stomach ache after consuming iron tablets in government schools in several districts of Haryana, officials said on Tuesday.

The folic acid (iron) tablets were given to them as part of Haryana Health Department’s supplementation programme to combat anaemia, they said.
